I was studying early embryology recently and I came across something that caused me to think (actually truth be told it gave me an excuse not to study for a few moments...and I can and will take any opportunity not to study that I get). This is something I learned many years ago in my younger and less reflective days so the significance of it was not apparent to me back then. So here's the thing, ALL embryos start out FEMALE. See initially there is the indifferent gonad, now this is what develops into the testes or ovary. Now here is the interesting thing, there are various factors that have to be present for the indifferent gonad to develop into testes (to be specific 3 factors have to be present, namely TDF, MIF and testosterone... but thats not really important I am just showing off at this point, sorry). If these factors are not present an ovary develops. Let me summarise, it takes special intervention for a male to form, if left to itself a female forms, which means that all embryos are inherently female.
Now that I have given you the science let me continue onto what my thought was....If all embryos are inherently female wouldn't it be logical to assume that GOD created Eve and not Adam first. Hmmmmm makes you think doesn't it, I mean could it be possible that it was Adam who screwed up the whole apple thing and got them both kicked out of Eden. Maybe the devil rather than being a sweet talking serpent, came as a lingerie clad supermodel and convinced Adam to eat the apple(wait a minute they were all naked back then so I guess that kind of defeats the purpose of lingerie, oh well whatever). Or possibly the devil just made the apple appear like a spicy chicken wing or something(mmmmmm spiiicy chicken wing). To take it one step further if GOD did create Eve first wouldn't it be reasonable to assume GOD is a woman, or more appropriately THE WOMAN.
When I mentioned this theory to my wife she looked at me with a sympathetic smile and told me I need to get out more, and she also pointed out that she believes GOD doesn't have a sex. I have a hard time arguing with that because we are talking about GOD here and what do any of us mere mortals know anyway (also because arguing with my wife is pretty much pointless). I warned everyone that I have thoughts of a mostly useless nature so if I have taken up anyones precious time, I am truly sorry.
